Use of the source FLA files requires a copy of Macromedia Flash MX 2004.

Need help with downloading? See our Downloading Help documents.

1. Download the archive file that contains the gallery templates and source files.

2. Unzip the archive file. The expanded archive contains three directories: Sample Output, Source Files, and Templates.

3. To install Flash Gallery 3 (and Galleries 1 and 2, if not already installed), open the Templates folder and drag the contents to the following location: Adobe Photoshop CS2\Presets\Web Photo Gallery.

4. To create a new gallery, launch Photoshop CS2 and choose File > Automate > Web Photo Gallery, or launch Adobe Bridge and choose Tools > Photoshop >Web Photo Gallery. Then select Flash Gallery 1, 2, or 3, specify output options, and click OK.

5. To view the sample output, open the Sample Output folder, open the appropriate gallery folder, and open the index.html file in any Web browser. (The Macromedia Flash player must be installed to view the content properly.)

6. To edit the template source files, open the Source Files folder, open the appropriate gallery folder, and open the gallery's FLA file in Macromedia Flash MX 2004. Galleries derived from this source data may be freely redistributed.

7. Note that it is also possible to customize the behavior of a gallery by editing the galleryconfig.xml file contained within each gallery template folder. This file can be modified easily by any text editor.

Additional notes

Because of problems discovered using the templates in conjunction with non-ASCII characters, Flash Galleries 1 and 2 did not ship with some language versions of Photoshop CS2. If you need to use non-ASCII characters in filenames or metadata, it may be useful to edit the galleryconfig.xml file in each template directory and set the EMBED FONT value to "false."
